MEMBER PARTY AT NYFA


Dear NYFA Members,

The move is over and now the FUN can begin.   We’re throwing a GRAND OPENING PARTY and you’re cordially invited to the big event!

Come by Sunday October 9th from 3-6 pm for the party at 2896 W 12th St, Brooklyn, NY 11224.   And invite your friends to our Open House from 12-2 pm to experience the sport of sword fighting!

There will be lots of exciting games, food, and prizes.  Come and bring your friends to join in all the fun!  Dress Code: CASUAL ATTIRE! (Gym attire is preferred so you can ALL join the games! And yes, we mean ALL of you including the parents.)

WEEKEND RESULTS AT FC AND ROCHESTER


  • Congratulations to Annie Morelli for winning the Fencer’s Club Div II Women’s Epee tournament this Sunday!
  • Sophia Chelnitsky made top 8 at the FC Div II Women’s Epee event
  • Skyler Chin and Romain Cannone also made top 8 at the Rochester Y14 Men’s Epee Super Youth Circuit

Please note that NYFA will be closed on Columbus Day, Monday, October 10th.

Congratulations to NYFA Fencers for their recent weekend results:

  • Sophia Chelnitsky took home the Gold in NJFA’s Cadet Women’s Epee tournament
  • Peye Wong got Women’s Silver at Cobra’s Y14 Mixed Epee Regional Youth Circuit
  • Romain Cannone earned Bronze in the Cobra Y14 Mixed Epee Regional Youth Circuit

WE’RE EXPANDING OUR CLUB!

We are excited to announce that in just a few weeks, we will be relocating upstairs to a larger, fully renovated facility to accommodate our growing family of fencers. The new club will feature a 3,000 square-foot gym with 6 fencing strips, state-of-the-art equipment, new floors, new heating and air conditioning, windows, locker rooms, and a spectator area with Wi-Fi and TV.  NYFA will still be conveniently located at 2896 W 12th Street in Brooklyn, NY.

Meanwhile, classes are off to a great start at our current location and registration is ongoing. Check out our schedule of epee & foil classes, introductory & member packages, and membership plans.

CONGRATULATIONS TO NYFA FENCERS AT 2011 SUMMER NATIONALS


New York Fencing Academy would like to thank all of our parents and fencers for your continuous support of our club which allowed us to achieve impressive results at the 2011 Summer Nationals in Reno, Nevada. For ten days, more than 3,500 of the best fencers in the US fought for National titles and medals. NYFA was represented by nine fencers: Annie Morelli, Anna Brosgol, Sophia Chelnitsky, Peye Wong, Skyler Chin, Gabriel Canaux, Daniel Hurwitz, Aaron Fu and Bennett Cohen.  Coach Misha Mokretsov congratulates everyone for giving their maximum effort and making our club proud.

Y14 Women’s Epee National Championship:
Annie Morelli:  5th Place out of 112  (C2011 rating)
Sophia Chelnitsky:  30th Place
Peye Wong:  32nd Place  (E2011 rating)

Y14 Men’s Epee National Championship:
Skyler Chin:  Bronze Medal out of 167  (A2011 rating)

Cadet Women’s Epee North American Cup:
Anna Brosgol:  20th Place out of 133  (C2011 rating)

Cadet Men’s Epee North American Cup:
Gabriel Canaux:  20th Place out of 187

Division 2 Men’s Epee National Championship:
