Summer at NYFA includes weekly group classes and 5-day day camps for mixed levels & ages; private lessons; and our international sleep-away camps. Call to sign-up for Summer classes & lessons, and register online for camps.

Lessons: Call (516) 472-7042 to schedule lessons. Currently we have regular hours on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Saturdays, Sundays. All new students begin with an Introductory package of private lessons.
Classes: Wednesday group class is 6:00 pm-7:30 pm for mixed levels. Students may join the class after completing the beginners package, or if you have prior fencing experience, then you may join the class after 1 private lesson so your coach can assess your skill level. A Saturday class is being planned.
Bouting: Wednesdays 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm – fencers with at least half a year of experience are welcome to join our students for our open bouting session. Now through June: open bouting is FREE!
Musketeers or Kids Beginners (1.5 hours) – Musketeers (6-7 years old) or Kids (8-11 years old) who are complete beginners or fencers with little experience. This class covers footwork, basic techniques and skills, bouting tactics, etiquette and sportsmanship. We provide all the necessary equipment.
Kids Intermediate (1.5 hours) – For kids 11 and younger who have been fencing for at least six months, have a good understanding of basic movements, and are ready for a higher level of footwork, technical skills, and bouting tactics. We will continue to emphasize etiquette and sportsmanship. Full set of equipment is necessary.
Intermediate (1.5-2 hours) – Fencers who have acquired a good understanding of basic movements and have at least half a year of fencing experience. This class brings fencers to a higher level of footwork and technical skills, bouting tactics and continues to emphasize etiquette and sportsmanship. Full set of equipment is necessary.
Competition Class (1.5 or 2 hours) – Advanced classes for fencers with at least one year competitive experience with fencing. Fencers in this class are annual members, take individual lessons, train two-three times a week, have their own electric and protective gear, and compete regularly in local as well as national events.
Directed Bouting (2 hours) – advanced bouting class limited to fencers who are Y14 or older and C-rated or above. Others must be approved by Coach Mokretsov.
Footwork (30 min.) – Intense fencing footwork to improve the technique, speed and control of distance.
Conditioning (30 min.) – Intense work out to improve general body strength, speed, coordination and endurance.
Pilates Conditioning (1 hour) – Stretching exercises and intense work out to improve general body strength, speed, coordination and endurance.

Open Fencing – practice bouting with other fencers.
Private Lessons (20-40 min.) – designed to allow maximum fencing progress and schedule flexibility. One-on-one lessons with the coach can begin as soon as scheduled and are available during club hours, before or after classes.
