  • Bennett Cohen won Gold at NYFA’s E & Under
  • Skyler Chin earned Silver at the Denise O’Connor High School Championships in Under-20 age group – an A2 tournament with 78 fencers

  • Anton Chmut won GOLD in Y12 and made top 8 in Y14 at the Cobra Youth Challenge
  • Alan Temiryaev took BRONZE in the Y12 Cobra Youth Challenge
  • Anna Brosgol, Sophia Chelnitsky, Skyler Chin, Alex Hall and Richard Kim qualified for the 2013 Junior Olympics
  • Alex Hall and Richard Kim earned their C2012 ratings at the Long Island Division Junior Olympics Qualifier

Cobra Regional Youth Circuit (RYC) in Jersey City:

  • Anton Chmut – 2nd place in Y12 (qualified for Summer Nationals)
  • Nathan Vaysberg – 7th place in Y12 (qualified for Nationals)
  • Jaclyn Khrol – 3rd place in Y12; 3rd place in Y10 (qualified for Nationals)
  • Mark Dolgonos – 3rd place in Y10 (qualified for Nationals)
  • Abigail Soto – 3rd place in Y14

Fencers Club Senior Men’s Epee Open in New York:

  • Romain Cannone – 5th place in adult A2 event out of 43 fencers

NYFA SUMMER NATIONALS 2012 WRAP-UP

Another season has ended with Summer Nationals, the biggest fencing event in the world.  More than 5,000 athletes converged in Anaheim, California to compete in all age groups and weapons. NYFA was represented by 13 athletes: Sophia Chelnitsky, Alex Watkins, Michael Burovsky, Anton Chmut, Bennett Cohen, Sam Burman, Richard Kim, Alan Temiryaev, Anna Brosgol, Skyler Chin, Romain Cannone, Jackie Khrol, and Luca Bellomi.   Some are seasoned and experienced but most are young and promising athletes who were fencing in a competition of such scale for the first time.  All should be proud to have made it to Summer Nationals – you qualified, fought hard and gained great experience for future events.  Congratulations!
